Objective To evaluate complexed prostate-specific antigen (c-PSA) in differential diagnosis of prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Methods Totally 60 men were subjected
including 18 cases of prostate cancer (PCa)
27 cases of BPH
and 25 normal individuals (control group). All subjects were diagnosed by ultrasonography and pathological methods. Serum c-PSA and total-PSA (t-PSA) were measured by automated chemiluminescence system Bayer ACS:180. The ratio of c-PSA to t-PSA (C/T) was calculated respectively. Results Student t test indicated that significant difference was seen in c-PSA and t-PSA between BPH and PCa
but no difference in C/T and age. There was significant close correlation of c-PSA and t-PSA in PCa group. But no relation of these indexes was seen in BPH group. As for 100% sensitivity
the specificity for c-PSA 3.75 μg/L
t-PSA 4.0 μg/L
C/T=0.65
c-PSA 7.5 μg/L+(C/T=0.65) were 42.3%
38.5%
36.5% and 75.0% respectively. Conclusion c-PSA and t-PSA have higher relativity in Pca group than in BPH group. As for the sensitivity 100%
it can be apparently improve to 75.0% when c-PSA 7.5 μg/L and C/T radio=0.6 5 are integrated.
