Assessment in competency-based medical education and its cultural transformation
Abstract
The assessment paradigm and its connotation in competency-based medical education (CBME) are undergoing profound changes. Programmatic assessment has become the standard assessment paradigm for CBME because it organically integrates learning with outcomes and assessment with teaching. Accordingly
the culture of assessment must also evolve. It is essential to break free from existing misconceptions
endow assessment with more social attributes
and incorporate and improve program evaluation to achieve systematic optimization of the assessment system. This article aims to provide theoretical reference and practical insights for the development of CBME assessment systems in China.
