Consensus on the digital intelligence competency framework for medical teachers by the China Consortium of Elite Teaching Hospitals
As the fourth technological revolution in medical education
driven by generative artificial intelligence
rapidly advances globally
competency-based medical education is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges for development. China urgently needs to formulate standards for a digital intelligence competency framework for medical teachers that aligns with local medical education scenarios. To facilitate the digital transformation and high-quality development of medical education in China
the "Future Medical Education Leadership Initiative" project
led by the China Consortium of Elite Teaching Hospitals and implemented by The First Affiliated Hospital
Zhejiang University School of Medicine
organized medical education experts
digital intelligence medicine experts
artificial intelligence technology experts
teaching administrators
and frontline clinical faculty. Based on survey data
relevant domestic research findings
and medical education practice experience
an expert consultation was conducted using brainstorming combined with a modified Delphi method. After repeated discussions
deliberations
and revisions
a consensus on the digital intelligence competency framework for medical teachers was formulated. This consensus identifies five core competencies that medical teachers should possess: digital intelligence knowledge foundation
digital intelligence application skills
digital intelligence ethics and security
digital intelligence teaching integration
and digital intelligence research translation. Each core competency is further detailed with specific competency items and explanations to elucidate the connotations of the framework. This consensus can serve as a reference for medical schools and standardized residency training bases nationwide
providing an important basis and practical directions for setting training objectives for the digital intelligence competency of medical teachers
formulating training programs
implementing assessments
strengthening faculty training
and developing digital intelligence teaching resources.
