Development and validation of a quality evaluation scale for college/university student affairs from the perspective of student perception
To develop a student perception-based quality evaluation scale for college/university student affairs
test its reliability and validity
and provide a reliable tool for assessing the quality of college/university student affairs.
Methods
2
Through literature review and two rounds of consultation with six experts from four universities in East China and North China
a draft of the scale comprising four dimensions and 24 items was constructed. Using convenience sampling
undergraduate and postgraduate students from Nanjing Medical University were selected for a questionnaire survey from October 2025 to January 2026. SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 were used for statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics were used for measurement data. The critical ratio method and correlation coefficient were used for item analysis. Item-level content validity index and scale-level content validity index were used for evaluation of content validity. Exploratory factor analysis
confirmatory factor analysis
convergent validity
and discriminant validity were used for evaluation of construct validity. Cronbach's α coefficient and split-half reliability were used for evaluation of internal consistency reliability.
Results
2
Exploratory factor analysis extracted four dimensions
with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 76.09% for common factors. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed good model fit. The item-level content validity index ranged from 0.833 to 1.000
and the scale-level content validity index was 0.984. The overall Cronbach's
α
coefficient of the scale was 0.957
and the split-half reliability was 0.908. The final scale included four dimensions: student ideological and political education
student affairs management
student Party and Youth League building
and student development and support services
with a total of 20 items.
Conclusions
2
The quality evaluation scale for college/university student affairs based on student perception has good reliability and validity
and can be used as a standardized tool for evaluating the quality and effectiveness of college/university student affairs from the student perspective.
