Correlation analysis of structured level of traditional Chinese medicine clinical thinking, classical theory learning, and syndrome differentiation practice among rehabilitation resident physicians
To analyze the relationships among classical theory learning
frequency of syndrome differentiation practice
and the structured level of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinical thinking among rehabilitation resident physicians
and examine the mediating role of the structured level.
Methods
2
A convenience sampling method was used to select 118 rehabilitation residents who participated in standardized residency training at The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2021 to December 2024. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a General Information Questionnaire
a TCM Clinical Thinking Ability Evaluation Questionnaire
a Classical Theory Learning Self-Rating Scale
and a Syndrome Differentiation Practice Frequency Self-Rating Scale. Descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 27.0. The mediating effect of the structured level of TCM clinical thinking was tested using the PROCESS macro 4.2 combined with the bootstrap method.
Results
2
The total score for the structured level of TCM clinical thinking among rehabilitation residents was (84.56±5.10)
indicating a moderate level. The total score for classical theory learning was (86.25±6.84)
reaching a relatively high level. The total score for syndrome differentiation practice frequency was (81.88±5.01)
reflecting an upper-moderate level. Pearson correlation analysis showed that classical theory learning was positively correlated with syndrome differentiation practice frequency (
r
=0.563
P
<
0.01) and the structured level of TCM clinical thinking (
r
=0.603
P
<
0.01). The structured level of TCM clinical thinking was positively correlated with syndrome differentiation practice frequency (
r
=0.623
P
<
0.01). Mediation analysis indicated that the structured level of TCM clinical thinking partially mediated the relationship between classical theory learning and syndrome differentiation practice frequency
with an indirect effect value of 0.197 (
P
<
0.001)
accounting for 47.72% of the total effect.
Conclusions
2
A positive correlation exists between classical theory learning and syndrome differentiation practice frequency
and this correlation is
to some extent
related to the structured level of TCM clinical thinking among resident physicians. Accordingly
within the context of rehabilitation medicine education
it is recommended to prioritize the systematic teaching of classical theoretical knowledge
increase opportunities for syndrome differentiation practice
and pay attention to the structured cultivation of TCM clinical thinking.
