Analysis of the teaching reform effectiveness of the Specialized Skills in Radiologic Imaging course based on the new graduation assessment scheme for standardized residency training
To address the insufficient alignment between the dual-track integrated postgraduate training model and the new graduation assessment scheme for standardized residency training
this study designed and established a specialized course
Specialized Skills in Radiologic Imaging
and evaluated its teaching effectiveness to provide a basis for the teaching reform of residency training.
Methods
2
Dual-track integrated postgraduate students in the Department of Radiology
The Fir
st Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were selected as study participants. The students enrolled in 2021 and 2022 were assigned to the experimental group (
n
=34)
and the students enrolled in 2020 were assigned to the control group (
n
=19). The experimental group received a 25‑hour specialized course covering five modules: interpretation of the assessment scheme
training in basic radiological diagnostic skills
report writing and clinical reasoning
practical skills
and doctor-patient communication. The control group continued with the conventional training model. The phased assessment scores and graduation assessment scores of the two groups were compared
and the teaching satisfaction in the experimental group was evaluated.
Results
2
There were no statistically significant differences in baseline data between the two groups (
P
>
0.05)
indicating that the groups were comparable. The phased assessment scores in the 5th and 6th semesters and the graduation assessment scores were higher in the experimental group than those in the control group (all
P
<
0.001). The satisfaction survey showed that the average score of each course dimension in the experimental group ranged from 4.50 to 4.68
with the cumulative proportion of satisfied and very satisfied ratings ranging from 91.18% to 97.06%
and no negative evaluations were received.
Conclusions
2
The Specialized Skills in Radiologic Imaging course improved the assessment scores of dual-track integrated postgraduate students and received high recognition from the trainees
providing a valuable practical reference for the teaching reform of standardized residency training.
