Development and evaluation of an integrated teaching model combining obstetric clinical skills and research advances
Focusing on a core challenge in undergraduate obstetrics education
namely the insufficient integration of clinical skill training with research achievements
this study developed and implemented a systematic integrated education model comprising eight key elements. In response to the limitations of traditional teaching approaches
including the disconnect between theory and practice and inadequate coverage of cutting-edge knowledge
a four-year teaching reform was carried out through measures such as restructuring teaching content
implementing problem-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction
building a "trinity" faculty team
establishing a tiered clinical skill training system
applying intelligent teaching technologies
embedding research training throughout the entire educational process
and adopting multidimensional dynamic evaluation methods. Using the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Renji Hospital
Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine as the practice base
an evaluation of 100 medical interns demonstrated significant improvements in theoretical examination scores
clinical skill assessment pass rates
and research participation. These findings indicate that systematic curriculum integration and innovation in teaching methodologies can effectively promote the synergistic development of clinical competence and research literacy
providing empirical evidence and a practical framework for systematic reform in obstetric education.
