Mediating effects of specialist nurse teamwork perceptions and attitudes on the relationship between practice environment and interprofessional collaboration ability
To explore the mediating effects of specialist nurse teamwork perceptions and attitudes on the relationship between practice environment and interprofessional collaboration ability
and provide a basis for managers to develop scientific and effective strategies for enhancing the interprofessional collaboration ability of specialist nurses.
Methods
2
In October 2025
a convenience sampling method was used to select 317 specialist nurses from a tertiary hospital in Zhejiang Province. A survey was conducted based on the "structure
process
and outcome" framework. In the structure dimension
the practice environment was measured using the Nursing Work Environment Scale. In the process dimension
teamwork perceptions and attitudes were measured using the Teamwork Perceptions Questionnaire and the Teamwork Attitudes Questionnaire. In the outcome dimension
interprofessional collaboration ability was assessed using the Chiba Interprofessional Competency Scale. The SPSS macro program PROCESS was used for mediating effect analysis.
Results
2
Valid questionnaires were collected from all 317 specialist nurses. The total scores for the Nursing Work Environment Scale
Teamwork Perceptions Questionnaire
Teamwork Attitudes Questionnaire
and Chiba Interprofessional Competency Scale were 139.15±14.59
158.70±16.20
131.36±10.30
and 133.00
±12.29
respectively. The total scores of the practice environment
teamwork perceptions
and teamwork attitudes were all significantly and positively correlated with the total score of interprofessional collaboration ability (
r
=0.703
0.719
and 0.596
respectively;
P
<
0.01). Teamwork perceptions and attitudes partially mediated the relationship between the practice environment and interprofessional collaboration ability. The mediating effect of perceptions (37.84%) was significantly greater than that of attitudes (16.55%).
Conclusions
2
Teamwork perceptions and attitudes are mediating variables between the practice environment and interprofessional collaboration ability. Nursing managers can enhance the interprofessional collaboration ability of specialist nurses by optimizing the practice environment
strengthening teamwork training
and establishing incentive mechanisms
thereby improving the quality of teamwork and nursing care provided by specialist nurses in tertiary hospitals.
