Application of the training in group model combined with intra-group jigsaw collaborative teaching in standardized training for intensive care unit nurses
To investigate the effectiveness of the training in group (TIG) model combined with intra-group jigsaw collaborative teaching in the standardized training of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses.
Methods
2
A total of 78 nurses who received standardized training in the ICU of our hospital from August 2023 to March 2025 were assigned to the control group and the combined group
with 39 nurses in each group. The control group received traditional teaching
while the combined group received intra-group jigsaw teaching based on the TIG model. The two groups were compared in terms of nursing theoretical knowledge
operational skills
core competencies
teamwork ability
learning engagement
and teaching satisfaction.
Results
2
After teaching
the combined group scored higher than the control group in knowledge of critical care medicine
emergency nursing theory
symptom management
principles of infection prevention and control
clinical decision-making ability
goal setting and reflection
and total score [(81.07±8.68)vs.(68.23±9.29)

of nursing theoretical knowledge. In addition
the combined group also scored higher than the control group in basic skills
specialized operations
emergency response competence
comprehens
ive application and total score of operational skills. For core competencies
the combined group had a higher score on the Competency Inventory for Registered Nurses than the control group (
P
<
0.05). For teamwork ability
the combined group had a higher score on the Nursing Teamwork Survey than the control group (
P
<
0.05). In terms of learning engagement
the combined group scored significantly higher than the control group in self-management
learning participation
active learning
and total score (
P
<
0.05). In terms of teaching satisfaction
the combined group showed higher satisfaction with teaching methods
teaching content
teaching atmosphere
teaching effectiveness
and overall satisfaction rate (92.31%vs. 71.19%)than the control group (
P
<
0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in satisfaction with teaching faculty (
P
>
0.05).
Conclusions
2
The intra-group jigsaw teaching method based on the TIG model significantly improves the scores in nursing theoretical knowledge and operational skills assessments of ICU nurses during standardized training
enhances their core competencies and teamwork ability
and effectively increases their learning engagement and teaching satisfaction. This approach has high practical value.
