Study on the application effects of virtual-reality integrated scenario simulation in home visit teaching
To explore the application effects of virtual-reality integrated scenario simulation in home visit teaching.
Methods
2
A total of 143 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in 2022 were selected as the participants. The study was conducted from Ma
rch to April 2025. The students were randomly assigned to a virtual-reality integrated group and a conventional group
and received virtual-reality integrated scenario simulation teaching and conventional scenario simulation teaching
respectively. Differences in the scores of the Home Visit Attitude-Skill Questionnaire and the Clinical Simulation Learning Immersion Scale were compared before and after teaching between the two groups. The Clinical Simulation Learning Immersion Scale included four dimensions: cognitive assimilation
emotional buy-in
focused attention
and learning experience. Paired and independent samples
t
-tests were performed using SPSS 26.0 to determine the statistical significance of the differences. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 24 students from the virtual-reality integrated group
and the interview data were analyzed using content analysis.
Results
2
The home visit skill score of the conventional group after teaching was higher than that before teaching (60.89±6.62 vs. 59.00±6.65
t
=-2.52
P
=0.014)
but was not significantly different from that of the virtual-reality integrated group after teaching (60.89±6.62 vs. 60.60±6.85
t
=0.25
P
=0.803). The learning immersion score of the virtual-reality integrated group was higher than that of the conventional group (72.42±8.19 vs. 69.44±8.41
t
=-2.03
P
=0.045). Interview data revealed three themes regarding the participation experience in the virtual-reality integrated scenario simulation teaching: significant perception of realism and intelligence
improved learning outcomes coexisting with challenge
and technical limitations affecting interactive experience.
Conclusions
2
Virtual-reality integrated scenario simulation teaching effectively enhanced the learning immersion of students in home visit teaching. However
its effects on improving attitudes and skills of home visits require further investigation.
