An exploration of the core competencies of acupuncture and moxibustion talents based on the grounded theory methodology
This study aims to explore the core competencies essential for acupuncture and moxibustion talents
and to provide a theoretical foundation for enhancing the quality of acupuncture and moxibustion education in colleges and universities. Using the grounded theory method
a qualitative analysis was conducted on biographical texts and interview transcripts of 40 outstanding professionals in acupuncture and moxibustion. The three-level coding process of NVivo 14.0 software was used to extract core categories. The analysis established a three-dimensional positive-feedback spiral model of core competencies for acupuncture and moxibustion talents
comprising humanistic competence
professional competence
and developmental competence. The 18 traits derived from this model were analyzed individually. Based on the theoretical model and analysis
corresponding suggestions for acupuncture and moxibustion education were proposed to improve the quality of talent cultivation.
