Exploration of teaching comprehensive clinical thinking in gynecological emergencies using a 3D virtual simulation system
To explore the impact of integrating a 3D virtual simulation system into undergraduate training for comprehensive clinical thinking in gynecological emergencies.
Methods
2
A total of 190 students from the Second Clinical College of Wuhan University who participated in the undergraduate course of Obstetrics and Gynecology from March to June 2024 were selected to carry out after-class self-learning with th
e "virtual simulation experimental system for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of rupture and bleeding in ectopic pregnancy". A questionnaire survey was conducted and 154 valid responses were collected to evaluate the mastery of comprehensive clinical thinking in gynecological emergencies before and after virtual simulation learning
as well their evaluations of system usability. SPSS 26.0
t
test was used for statistical analysis.
Results
2
The self-assessed competencies in the diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy and related clinical operations significantly improved after learning with the virtual simulation system (
P
<
0.001). Overall
students were satisfied with the system's features and design
recognizing its role in enhancing knowledge acquisition and clinical skill development. Moreover
129 (83.77%) students were willing to recommend the system to others
believing that the system has the advantages of promoting self-learning
learning at any time
and enhancing diagnostic and clinical thinking.
Conclusions
2
The "virtual simulation experimental system for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of rupture and bleeding in ectopic pregnancy" plays a role in promoting the clinical teaching of gynecological emergencies among undergraduates
cultivating their ability to deal with clinical problems independently
and enhancing their proficiency in posterior vaginal fornix puncture. This system has been widely recognized by students.
