Application value of modified Peyton combined with SET GO in nursing internship teaching in the department of otolaryngology head and neck surgery
To analyze the application value of modified Peyton combined with consultation video teaching (SET GO) in the nursing internship teaching in the department of otolaryngology head and neck surgery.
Methods
2
A total of 107 nursing undergraduate students who interned in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from April 2022 to May 2024 were selected. They were divided into a control group (51 students
traditional teaching) and an observation group (56 students
modified Peyton combined with SET GO teaching) according to their internship batches. The two groups were compared in terms of specialty theoretic
al knowledge
operational skill scores
clinical decision-making ability
and the satisfaction with teaching. The independent samples
t
-test and chi-square test were performed using SPSS 26.0.
Results
2
The observation group of nursing students showed higher scores in disease care [(26.50±2.30) vs. (22.10±3.00)
]
emergency management [(22.80±1.90) vs. (18.30±2.70)
]
specialized drug knowledge [(13.90±1.20) vs. (12.10±1.80)
]
and total theoretical score [(90.60±4.50) vs. (78.60±6.20)
]
compared to the control group (all
P
<
0.001). In terms of operational skills
the observation group of nursing students scored higher in sites such as nosebleeds management [(18.70±1.20) vs. (15.10±2.30)
]
and tracheotomy nursing [(17.90±1.50) vs. (14.30±2.10)
]
(all
P
<
0.001)
with a significantly reduced safety rejection rate (3.57% vs. 23.52%
P
=0.043). In terms of clinical decision-making ability
the observation group of nursing students showed better performance in risk identification [(22.70±1.60) vs. (17.80±2.40)
]
and preliminary management [(23.10±1.40) vs. (19.30±2.00)
]
dimensions (both
P
<
0.001). The total score of teaching satisfaction in the observation group was also higher than that in the control group [(88.60±4.38) vs. (80.25±4.07)
P
<
0.001
]
.
Conclusions
2
Modified Peyton combined with SET GO teaching can effectively enhance the specialty theoretical knowledge
operational standardization
and clinical decision-making ability of nursing students
with high teaching satisfaction
providing an optimized solution for nursing teaching in the department of otolaryngology head and neck surgery.
