A study on the application of case-based workshops combined with visual mind mapping in standardized training for neurosurgical ICU nurses
To evaluate the effectiveness of case-based workshops combined with visual mind mapping in the standardized training of neurosurgical intensive care unit (ICU) nurses.
Methods
2
A total of 86 nurses who underwent standardized training at the neurosurgical ICU of The First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from March 2023 to March 2024 were selected and randomly divided into a control group (
n
=43) and an experimental group (
n
=43) using the odd-even numbering method. The control group received traditional teaching methods
while the experimental group received training via case-based workshops combined with visual mind mapping. The two groups were compared in terms of theoretical examination and practical skill scores
work competence
learning initiative
and teaching satisfaction.
Results
2
After the training
the experimental group showed significantly higher theoretical examination and practical skill scores than the control group (
P
<
0.05). The experimental group also demonstrated superior improvements in work competence (research ability
clinical nursing
leadership
interpersonal communication
ethical and legal practice
professional development
and education/training) and learning initiative (learning goal
diligent learning
learning motivation
learning control
and learning depth) compared to the control group (
P
<
0.05). The experimental group scored higher in teaching satisfaction compared to the control group (learning interest
theoretical knowledge mastery
practical skill improvement
satisfaction with teaching methods
satisfaction with teaching effectiveness
and teacher-student communication) (
P
<
0.05).
Conclusions
2
The combination of case-based workshops and visual mind mapping enhanced the standardized operational skills and work competence of neurosurgical ICU nurses. This approach effectively consolidated their theoretical knowledge
improved learning initiative
and increased satisfaction with the training model.
