Application of case-based collaborative learning combined with VR in clinical practice teaching of psychiatry
To explore the application of case-based collaborative learning (CBCL) combined with virtual reality (VR) technology in the practical clinical teaching of psychiatry for undergraduate psychology students.
Methods
2
A total of 106 undergraduate psychology students who participated in clinical practice at two psychiatric hospitals were randomly assigned to the control group (53 subjects) and the experimental group (53 subjects). The experimental group received the teaching method of CBCL combined with VR technology
while the control group received the traditional teaching method. After the courses
both groups were evaluated for clinical internship assessment results
self-directed learning ability
clinical problem analysis
practical skills in history taking and assessment
application of appropriate techniques
and interactive experience. SPSS 26.0 software was used for t-tests.
Results
2
The experimental group demonstrated statistically significant superiority over the control group in clinical psychiatry assessment (theoretical knowledge)
case analysis proficiency
and practical application skills [(85.68±2.82) vs. (82.49±2.78)
(86.23±2.71) vs. (82.91±2.82)
(86.40±2.55) vs. (82.72±3.12)

. Furthermore
the experimental group exhibited significantly superior self-directed learning outcomes in awareness
strategies
behaviors
and evaluation metrics (

the experimental group demonstrated higher satisfaction levels
particularly in application of appropriate techniques and interactive experience.
Conclusions
2
The teaching method of CBCL combined with VR technology is helpful to cultivate the clinical thinking of students
improve the ability of clinical problem analysis and self-direction
and enhance the application of practical skills and the experience of symptoms. It provides a new teaching mode for clinical practice teaching of psychiatry.
