Thinking on drinking water and sanitation in army under the impact of reverse osmosis technology
Reverse osmosis (RO) technology effectively removes pollutants in the water
but also removes mineral ions beneficial to health. Military personnel is a special group with a high demand for minerals. However
Chinese army men are generally in shortage of some important minerals
such as calcium in their diets because of their traditional oriental diet habits. So
if they drink demineralized water treated by RO technology
it will aggravate the lack of minerals in their bodies
and affect their physical abilities and health status. In this paper
we review the current status of drinking water treated by RO technology in our army and its possible effects on soldiers' health
and put forward to some suggestions on health management
education and scientific research under the impact of RO technology.
