Diagnostic performance of 1.5T radial MRI versus conventional MRI for acetabular labral tear: analysis of 22 cases
To compare the diagnostic performance of 1.5T radial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and conventional MRI for acetabular labrum tear.
Methods
2
We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 22 patients with acetabular labrum tear confirmed by hip arthroscopy
who underwent surgeries in our hospital between April and November
2018. All the patients underwent examinations with both conventional MRI and radial MRI of the hips before the operations
and the imaging data were read by two senior radiologists independently. The MR findings were compared with the findings by hip arthroscopy to assess the performance of 1.5T radial MRI and conventional MRI for the diagnosis of acetabular labrum tear.
Results
2
The diagnostic sensitivity
specificity
accuracy
positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of conventional MRI for acetabular labral tear were 37.2%
86.9%
54.5%
84.2% and 42.5%
and those of radial MRI were 93.0%
87.0%
90.9%
93.0%
and 86.9%
respectively.
Conclusion
2
1.5T radial MRI of the hip is superior to conventional MRI for diagnosing acetabular labral tear and allows more accurate and comprehensive assessment of the condition.
