Role of the thalamus in wakefulness control
摘要
Abstract
Wakefulness is a fundamental and universal biological process essential to survival. Over the past few decades
a variety of related neural circuitry and nuclei have been identified
whereas lesions in some groups of these nuclei cause limited alterations of wakefulness. The thalamus
dorsal part of the ascending arousal system
has long been thought to be important for wakefulness regulation
but the specific nucleus and circuitry controlling wakefulness remain unclear. This review
combined with our recently published works
focused on the role of the thalamus in wakefulness control.
