Innovative measures of the US army for combat casualty care in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom
complex injury factors and mass destruction in modern warfare pose great challenges for combat casualty care. During Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom that lasted more than 10 years
many innovative measures had been developed and contributed substantially to the evolution of combat casualty care of the U.S. Army. These measures
including innovative techniques
new medicines and equipment
and new mechanisms for improving the casualty care quality
had significantly reduced the total case fatality rate. By analyzing the advantages of these measures
the Chinese army can selectively utilize the experiences of the U.S Army for combat casualty care and develop relevant technologies
equipment
and facilities. Efforts should be made to integrate the advantageous resources in different fields of research and provide solutions for potential problems that might be encountered in the combat setting. Combat-oriented training of the military medical personnel should be strengthened to enhance the efficiency of combat casualty care.
