Expression of drug-resistance gene CA916798 before and after chemotherapy for advanced lung cancer and its clinical significance
To detect the expression of drug-resistant gene CA916798 before and after chemotherapy in patients with advanced lung cancer and explore its clinical significance.
Methods
2
Between March and December 2016
17 patients with pathologically confirmed advanced lung cancer by fiberoptic bronchoscopy before and after chemotherapy in our department. The biopsy samples of the lung carcinoma tissue collected by bronchoscopy were examined with qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry for CA916798 expression.
Results
2
All the 17 patients completed 2 cycles of chemotherapy
and 10 patients showed clinical responses (complete or partial remission) with an overall response rate of 58.82%. The mRNA expression of CA916798 in the tumor was significantly up-regulated in the non-responders than those responding to chemotherapy (
P
<
0.05). The positivity rate for CA916798 protein was comparable between the responders and non-responders before chemotherapy (
P
>
0.05)
but was significantly higher in the non-responders than in the responders after chemotherapy (
P
<
0.05). In the patients with stable disease after primary chemotherapy
the non-responders for secondary chemotherapy presented significantly un-regulated CA916798 expression level after first chemotherapy (
P
<
0.05).
Conclusion
2
The expression of CA916798 is correlated with the effect of chemotherapy and may change after chemotherapy. CA916798 expression level can be used as an indicator for predicting the effect of chemotherapy in patients with advanced lung cancer.
