Heat illness is a disease triggered in hot or humid environment without windy and characterized by thermoregulatory failure
adiaphoresis and water-electrolyte imbalance. With different pathogenesis and clinical manifestation
heat illness is sub-grouped into heat cramp
heat exhaustion and heat stroke
and their occurrence is sequential or overlapped. Among them
heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency with high mortality. Military personnel is known as a special population with specific and designated tasks. Soldiers have to endure extreme hot and humid environment during military operations
which makes them at high risk for heat injuries. This review mainly focused on emergency treatment
prevention strategy and critical care nursing for heat illness in order to provide a theoretical basis for prevention and treatment of the disease for our military.
