Safety analysis of sputum induction in children with asthma
Objective:To investigate the safety of hypertonic saline-induced sputum in asthmatic children.Methods:52 asthmatic children(including 37 cases of exacerbation
15 cases of remission) and 10 normal children were selected to induce sputum by hypertonic saline and pre or post sputum induction the peak expiratory flow(PEF)
forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)
heart rate(HR)
respiratory rate(RR)were detected. Results:No significant difference in PEF
FEV1
HR and RR values after sputum induction was found between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Hypertonic saline sputum induction is a safe technique for asthmatic children.
