Clinical efficacy and safety of tislelizumab combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors in treatment of metastatic renal cancer
To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of tislelizumab combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) in the treatment of patients with metastatic renal cancer.
Methods
2
A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 40 patients with advanced renal cancer who received tislelizumab combined with TKIs and 39 patients with advanced renal cancer who received monotherapy with TKIs in Department of Urology,The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, from April 2020 to March 2025. The patients in the monotherapy group were renal cancer patients treated with TKIs(such as sunitinib, pazopanib, axitinib, and lenvatinib) alone, while those in the combination therapy group were the patients treated with TKIs combined with tislelizumab(Tevimbra). The two groups were compared in terms of clinical outcome, survival time,progression-free survival,cancer-specific survival, and adverse reactions.
Results
2
There were significant differences in objective response rate and disease control rate between the combination therapy group and the monotherapy group. There was no significant difference in median overall survival between the combination therapy group and the monotherapy group(42.00 months vs. 29.00 months,
P
=0.354),while there was a significant difference in median progression-free survival between the two groups (10.50 months vs. 9.00 months,
P
=0.008). Common adverse reactions in the two groups included rash, anorexia, fatigue, and leukopenia. For the combination therapy group, the incidence rates of grade 1-2 or 3-4 adverse reactions were 72.5% and 20.0%,respectively,while for the monotherapy group, the incidence rates of grade 1-2 or 3-4 adverse reactions were 74.4% and 23.1%,respectively; the monot
herapy group had slightly higher incidence rates than the combination therapy group, with no significant differences between the two groups(
P
>
0.05).
Conclusion
2
Combination therapy has a better clinical efficacy than monotherapy in advanced renal cancer, particularly in terms of progression-free survival. Although there is a relatively high incidence rate of adverse reactions,it remains generally tolerable with a controllable safety profile.
