Efficacy of gamma knife combined with osimertinib in the treatment of brain metastases from EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer
To observe the clinical efficacy of gamma knife combined with osimertinib in the treatment of brain metastases from EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods
2
A total of 96 patients with brain metastases from EGFR-mutant NSCLC who received therapy in our hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the combination group and the control group, with 48 cases in each group. Patients in the combination group received gamma knife combined with osimertinib, while patients in the control group received osimertinib monotherapy. The clinical efficacy, quality of life, tumor markers levels, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
Results
2
The combination group had significantly higher short-term efficacy overall control rate, long-term efficacy survival rate, Karnofsky performance status scale (KPS) score, and World Health Organization quality of life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) score(
P
<
0.05),and significantly lower carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level than those in the control group(
P
<
0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions after treatment between the two groups (
P
>
0.05). Both groups showed significantly higher KPS scores and WHOQOL-BREF scores and significantly lower CEA levels at 3 months after treatment compared with those before treatment (
P
<
0.05).
Conclusion
2
Compared with osimertinib monotherapy, gamma knife combined with osimertinib for patients with brain metastases from EGFR-mutant NSCLC can improve efficacy and quality of life, reduce CEA levels, and does not increase the risk of adverse reactions.
