Comparison of multi-point parallel needle insertion and sector scanning ablation in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules
To compare the therapeutic efficacy and safety of multi-point parallel needle insertion and sector scanning ablation for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules.
Methods
2
A total of 92 patients with benign thyroid nodules admitted to Wuzhou People's Hospital from September 2023 to January 2025 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table method, with 46 patients in each group. Patients in the control group received sector scanning ablation, while patients in the observation group received multi-point parallel needle insertion. The intraoperative indicators, clinical efficacy, postoperative pain numerical rating scale (NRS) scores, nodule volume reduction rate (VRR), thyroid function indicators [serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT‑3), and free thyroxine (FT‑4)] levels, and the incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups.
Results
2
The ablation time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group(
P
<
0.05). Compared with the control group, the supplementary ablation rate in the observation group was lower, and the maximu
m nodule diameter after surgery was smaller, with statistically significant differences (
P
<
0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in VRR at 1 month postoperatively between the two groups(
P
>
0.05). The VRRs at 3 and 6 months postoperatively in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(
P
<
0.05). Compared with the control group, the NRS score at 1 day postoperatively in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(
P
<
0.05),while there was no statistically significant difference in NRS scores at 3 and 6 days postoperatively between the two groups (
P
>
0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in TSH, FT‑3, or FT‑4 levels after surgery or the overall incidence of complications between the two groups (
P
>
0.05).
Conclusion
2
Compared with sector scanning ablation,multi-point parallel needle insertion can shorten ablation time, reduce supplementary ablation rate, and improve the short-term nodule volume reduction rate, but it is associated with greater pain at 1 day postoperatively. The two techniques have comparable short-term effects on thyroid function and overall safety.
