Clinicopathological significance of the loss of mismatch repair protein expression in endometrioid carcinoma
To investigate the correlation between mismatch repair protein expression loss and clinicopathological features of endometrioid carcinoma.
Methods
2
A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinicopathological data of 136 patients diagnosed with endometrioid carcinoma at Wuhan First Hospital from January 2019 to December 2024.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of mismatch repair proteins in the cancerous tissues. The correlation between the loss of mismatch repair protein expression and clinicopathological features was analyzed.
Results
2
Mismatch repair protein expression loss was observed in 40 patients with endometrioid carcinoma. The expression loss rates of PMS2,MLH1,MSH6,and MSH2 were 25.0%(34/136),23.5%(32/136),4.4%(6/136), and 2.2% (3/1
36),respectively.Among these, MLH1 and PMS2 expression loss was more frequent in cases with poor differentiation, high FIGO grade, deep myometrial invasion, involvement of the lower uterine segment, younger age at onset, and maximum tumor diameter ≥2 cm, and the rate of expression loss was significantly higher (
P
<
0.05).
Conclusion
2
Mismatch repair protein expression loss is closely associated with pathological features of endometrioid carcinoma that indicate high invasiveness and poor prognosis.
