Development and validation of a nomogram for emergence agitation during anesthesia recovery in pediatric adenotonsillectomy
To explore the influencing factors of emergence agitation during anesthesia recovery in pediatric adenotonsillectomy and to construct a nomogram model.
Methods
2
A total of 360 children who underwent pediatric adenotonsillectomy in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were selected and randomly assigned to
the modeling group (216 cases)and the validation group (144 cases)in a ratio of 6∶4. The factors influencing emergence agitation during anesthesia recovery in pediatric adenotonsillectomy were investigated through univariate analysis and multivariate regression analysis, and a nomogram model was constructed. The predictive ability of the model was assessed by
receiver operating characteristic
(
ROC
) curve, and the consistency of the model was evaluated by calibration curve.
Results
2
Age≤6 years, developmental delay, preoperative anxiety,non-use of dexmedetomidine, and postoperative pain were independent risk factors for emergence agitation during anesthesia recovery in pediatric adenotonsillectomy(
P
<
0.05). The
area under the curve
(
AUC
) was 0.84(95%
CI
:0.79 to 0.90) for the modeling group and 0.79(95%
CI
:0.71 to 0.86) for the validation group. The predicted value of the calibration curves for both groups was close to the actual value, indicating good consistency of the constructed model.
Conclusion
2
The influencing factors of emergence agitation during anesthesia recovery in pediatric adenotonsillectomy include younger age, developmental delay, preoperative anxiety, postoperative pain, and non-use of dexmedetomidine, and the nomogram model constructed accordingly demonstrates good predictive performance. It may assist in guiding early clinical interventions to reduce emergence agitation during pediatric anesthesia recovery.
