Objective    To explore the method and cosmetic results of video-assisted subcutaneous mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with prothesis.     Methods    Of 21 patients

8 cases were breast cancer and 13 cases were benign breast diseases. Eight cases of breast cancer underwent lumpectomy and the sentinel lymph node according to the principle of breast conserving therapy. The endoscopic instruments were used to simplify operation especially in the inner part of the breast. Video-assisted subcutaneous mastectomy method was used directly in the benign breast diseases. Prothesis was implanted under ectopectoralis.     Results    Eight cases of breast cancer underwent single lateral operation and 13 cases of benign diseases received bilateral operation. Skin pigmentation were seen in 2 cases breast cancer after radiotherapy and then faded in 3 months. The shape and tensity of breast were not changed apparently by radiotherapy. The relapse and metastasis were not found in the breast cancer during the follow-up period. The symmetry in one patient was not enough well owing to the smaller prothesis. tensity and cosmetic result.     Conclusion    The video-assisted subcutaneous mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with prothesis is a safe

feasible

and better-cosmetic-result-obtained operation method for earlier breast cancer suitable for breast conserving therapy and for partial mastectomy to benign breast diseases.
