mRNA and protein expression of chloride intracellular channel 1 in colon cancer and clinical significance
Objective To investigate the expression of chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC-1) in colon cancer and its clinical significance. Methods Expression of CLIC-1 mRNA and protein were detected by reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemical staining in 54 tissue samples of colon carcinoma and corresponding para-carcinoma tissues collected in our hospital from January to June 2011
respectively. Correlation of CLIC-1 expression and clinicopathologic features was analyzed. Results CLIC-1 mRNA and protein expression in colon cancer tissues was signif
icantly higher than that in corresponding para-carcinoma tissues (
P
<
0.05
respectively). Significant differences were found among invasion degree (
P
<
0.05)
lymph node metastasis (
P
<
0.05) and TNM stage (
P
<
0.01) of the patients with CLIC-1 protein expression. However
there was no significant difference among age
sex and size
position and differentiation of the patients with CLIC-1 protein expression (
P
>0.05
respectively). Conclusion CLIC-1 is highly expressed in colon cancer
and may play a certain role in progression of colon cancer.
