Value of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography in diagnosis of coronary heart diseases
Objective To assess the value of 17-segment time-volume curves and the illustration of the bull eye (IBE) of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE) in the diagnosis of coronary heart diseases (CHD)
and compare with the value of coronary angiography (CAG). Methods RT-3DE was used to examine 197 patients who had definite history of CHD or doubtful diagnosis of CHD hospitalized in Department of Cardiology during March to July 2010. Then Qlab 3DQA was used to educe their 17-segment time-volume curves and IBE. After that
the patients were examined by CAG
and the results of CAG were compared with those of RT-3DE. Results Among the 197 patients
178 were diagnosed as CHD by CAG. For the degree of coronary artery stenosis was greater than or equal to 90% or not in CAG
their 17-segment time-volume curves and IBE directly showed the segments moved abnormally of left ventricular. So according to the relationship of coronary arteries and left ventricular
the abnormal arteries were deduced. Compared with CAG
when only a single of coronary artery had stenosed, the sensitivities and specificities of RT-3DE were above 79% and 97%. When two or three of coronary arteries had stenosed
the sensitivity and specificity of RT-3DE were above 79% and 72%. Conclusion Real-time three-dimensional echocardiography shows the segments moved abnormally in left ventricule
and is helpful to find the pathological arteries
as a hammerless and accurate method in diagnosing CHD.
