Objective According to the course characteristics and teaching requirements of psychiatry
we built a serial of teaching cases based on clinic cases for the case-based learning (CBL). Method The teacher gave out information about the cases step by step. During each step
the students would be asked a series of questions regarding the cases. Students were divided into small groups to discuss those questions. Students could thoroughly learn how to diagnose and treat common psychiatric disorders through CBL. Result Through a questionnaire regarding the efficacy of CBL in psychiatry courses
we found that students’ involvement in CBL courses
self-study ability and case analyzing skills were greatly developed. Conclusion Most students were interested in CBL. CBL should be more widely applied in the teaching of Psychiatry.
