IMMUNODIAGNOSIS OF AMOEBIASIS BY INDIRECT IMMUNOPEROXIDASE ASSAY
Abstract
The indirect immunoperoxidase assay (IIP) was evaluated for the detection of specific antibodies in sera from 15 cases of acute atriebiasis. 12 cases of amebic liver abscess were all positive for IIP assay
the titres ranged from 1:40 to 1 = 640; 3 cases of acute amebic dysentery were also positive for IIP assay
but their titres were comparatively lower and ranged from 1:40 to 1:160. Compared with the results of IFA and ELISA
no significant difference was found. IIP assay is easy to perform
does not require fluorescent microscope and amebic axenic culture.and has good specifity. Therefore
this method can be used for the diagnosis of acute amebiasis in a general laboratory.
