THE APPLICATION OF MULTIPLE STEPWISE REGRESSION IN THE PRESUMPTION OF PROGNOSIS OF SUDDEN DEAFNESS
tie factors influencing the prognosis were studied. Clinical data obtained were statistically examined using multiple step-wise regression analsysis by the micro-computer TRS-III. Three important factors have been found; 0 Among various factors concerning the progaosie
the most important one is the time between the onset of deafness and its peak. The faster the onset of deafness
the worse the prognosis; 2) the presence of hearing of 8KHz is closely related to the prognosis. If hearing of 8KHz can be tested
prognosis is better; 3) the time between the onset of deafness and the initial examination is in close relationship with the prognosis ie
the shorter the time
the better the hearing recovery. The optimal regression equation for predicting prognosis has been established. According to this equation
otologists would be able to estimate the prognosis of the patients suffering from sudden deafness.
