ixty six surgical specimens of colorectal adenocarcinoma were divided into two groups:(1)Mucinousadenocarcinoma 38 cases;(2)Tuhlar adenocarcinorna 28 caxes

10 normal specimens from the resected mar-gins of colorectal tracts were used as control gronp .They were studied by Avidin-Biotin peroxidase im-munohistochemical techniques.The results showed that the positive rate of SBA in mucinous adenocarcinoma is much higher than that lntublar adenocarcinoma .After neuraminidase digestion

all groups showed more intensive staining than thoseof the non-neuraminidase digestion except tor control group.The present study indicates that there are more N-acetygalactosamine and silic acid in the glycoproteincompartments of mucinous adenocarcinomas than those in the tubular adenocarinomas.And the expression ofthe two glycosamines shows a close association with tumor invasion of mucinous adenocarcinoma.
