\ Data.of brainstem auditory evoked potentials(BAEP) in 152 children with high risk factor during perinatal stage
age from the neonatal preiod up to 1 year old were analysed.98(64.5%)of 152 children were abnormal in BAEP.The higher abnormal incidences of BAEP were hyperbilirubinamia & asphyxial neonates & premature intats
But the hearing impairment due to hyperbilirubinamia & asphxia was more severe than duo to prematuer infants( P <0.01).The scoring of Apgar≤5).score in asphyxia neomates was more severe in hearing impairment( P <0 05).In these abnormal children 68.4%(67/98)preserved with partly residual hearing. In follow-up 29 chileren we found 24(82.8%) chileren preserved with residual hearing
but 33.3% infants were progressively wores after birth
41.7% children recovered gradually. The recovere of light degree hearing impariment was possbly( P <0 01).The conclusion also reveals that BAEP is an effective method of screening for hearing loss in high risk infants.
