To investigate the modulating effects of exogenous hyaluronic acid(HA) on adult wound healing and its dyanamic process
the excisional cutaneouos wounds on dorsum in 62 rats were made and exogenoua HA was applied topically. Granulating tissue specimens were harvested at 3
7 and 14 days after wounding for light microscopic
transsmission electron microscopic examination and hydroxyproline(HYP) determination. lt was demonstrated that after topical application of cxogenous HA:at 3rd day postwounding angiogenesis was remarkabaly less than that irt control group
but fibrubasts degenerated aeriously and the contents of HYP was significantly lower than th at in control at 7th day; 14 days after wounding
the depositcd collagen in HA group was more well-organized than that in control group.it is concluded that the modulating effects was more effective in early. period and less in later stage. It is sugggested that exogenous HA might have potential value to lesen or. control scar formation.
