A prelminary observation of nitric oxide and forced expiratory volume on one second in patitnts with bronchal asthma
his study is to investigate the change of nitric oxide (NO) in serum and the possible relationship between serum nitric oxide concentrations and FEV1 in patients with bronchial asthma; in order to explore the pathogenic role the NO play in the development of bronchial asthma. Twenty health volunteers were investigated for NO (control group). Thirty - six patient. with bronchial asthma were investigated for NO and FEV1 (asthma group). Blood samples were taken before and after steroid treatment. The results before and after steroid treatment. The results suggested:①serum NO concentrations in the pwtients with bronchial asthna increaaed as umpared with the control group(P< 0.00l). ②In asthma group
the parameters after treatment were obviously different from those before treatment(P<0.06). In linear correlation analysis
FEV1 were negatively correlated with serum NO concentrations (r = - 0.71
P< 0.001 and r = - 0. 74
P< 0.001). The determination of serum NO concentrations in patients with bronchial asthma can provide a method to assess therapeutic effects. The mechanism in which steroid Was used to cure asthma may involve in selectively inhibiting the activity of NO.
