Objective: To summarize and investigate the pathology
diagnosis and treatment of placenta accreta. Methods: Twelve cases of placenta accreta for recent eight years were analyzed retrospectively and the literature was reviewed. Results: Five cases received emergency hysterectomy
about 42% (5/12) of cases. Five cases of local uterus bleeding were treated with suture. Two cases succeeded in conservative treatment. No one died. Conclusion: Early prenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta is a key to improving prognosis. It was common that placenta accreta cause life-threatening hemorrhage and emergency hysterectomy was usually necessary. Conservative treatment was adopted for cases of non-emergency and eagerness for fertility. Because the delayed DIC may take place
careful follow-up may be required until the entire placenta has been resorbed or discharged.
