Influence of high intensity focused ultrasound and alcohol blocking celiac ganglion on the discharge of left greater splanchnic nerve
Objective: To observe the influence of high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) and alcohol blocking celiac ganglion(CG) on the discharge frequency of left greater splanchnic nerve(LGSN) and postganglion fibre. Methods: 10 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: HIFU and alcohol groups with five rabbits in each group.CG was blocked by HIFU and 95% alcohol separately. The discharge of postganglion and preganglion fibre to gastric distension(GD) was recorded. Results: After blocked by HIFU
the discharge frequency of LGSN showed no obvious changes
however the alcohol group kept increasing in discharged frequency to GD(P<0.01).The discharge frequency of LGSN blocked ganglion by alcohol significantly increased(P<0.01).Two ways both led to decrease of discharge frequency and voltage of postganglion fibre. Conclusions: HIFU can block the conduction of sympathetic nerve and visceral afferent fibre completely at once.Alcohol can block sympathetic efferent nerve just as HIFU
but the degree in blocking the conduction of visceral afferent fibre is less than HIFU.
