Efficacy of thyroid hormone treatment and the serum levels of thyroid hormone in patients with primary nephritic syndrome
Objective:To investigate the efficacy of low-dose thyroid hormone treatment and the change in levels of thyroid hormone in patients with chronic kidney disease. Methods: 92 children with chronic kidney disease were randomly divided into thyroxine treatment group and control group
with 46 children in each group. All patients received conventional treatment
the treatment group served with additional Levothyroxine of 25 ~ 50μg/d. At least 1 month follow-up was taken to compare the clinical efficacy
RIA detection level of thyroxine. Results: In control group
urinary protein
urine occult blood
Hb and albumin showed no changes at 1w-4w after therapy
and the treatment group also showed this trend. There were no difference between two groups. However
1 week after treatment
SCr and BUN began to decline
till 4th week(P <0.05). Thyroxine and the treatment group and control group over the same period compared to 1 week after treatment and after the decline in SCr and BUN more obvious and continuing to 4 weeks(P <0.05). To thyroid function enhanced in patients in the treatment group at 1 week after treatment (P<0.05)
this trend is maintained up to 4 weeks after treatment;and 1 week after treatment
thyroid function in the treatment group with the same period was improved compared to the control group(P <0.05). FT3 and SCr for all patients showed a negative correlation between the concentration. The correlation coefficient was -0.71 (t = 6.147
P = 0.012). Conclusion: Small dose of thyroid hormone treatment have a good role in the treatment for children with chronic kidney disease. The efficacy of thyroid hormone levels can be used as an indicator for therapy and evaluation for prognosis.
