Detection and sequencing of different subtypes of HPV in laryngeal carcinoma
Objective:To look for the further evidence for different subtypes of HPV as carcinogenic factors in laryngeal carcinoma. Methods:We examined representative numbers of specimens from laryngeal cancer with highly sensitive PCR technique and sequencing for the presence of different subtypes of HPV.Results:The positive rates of HPV-L1
-16E6/E7
-18E6/E7 were significantly higher than other types in 123 cases of laryngeal carcinoma specimens.PCR was used to screen the prevalence of HPV infection. The prevalence of HPV-16E6 was lower than laryngeal carcinoma. But
as the cells undergoing pathological progress
the HPV-16E6 positive rate was increased. The prevalence of HPV-16E7 was similar to the prevalence of HPV-16E6.The positive rate of HPV-L1 was the highest and the prevalence of HPV-L1 was significantly increased as the cells underwent pathological progress.Conclusion:HPV-16 and HPV-18 may synergistically function on the pathogenesis of laryngeal epithelium.L1 segment is fit for detecting HPV infection.
