Effects of continuous dietary guidance on nutritional status of patients after total gastrectomy
Objective To explore the effect of continuous dietary guidance on nutritional status of patients after total gastrectomy. Methods A total of 50 patients with gastric cancer who underwent total gastrectomy in first hospital affiliated to army medical university from January 2017 to June 2018 were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to postoperative dietary guidance method.Twentyfive cases in control group were given routine dietary guidance and 25 cases in observation group were given continuing dietary guidance. The nutritional indexes of the two groups were compared preoperatively and postoperatively at 1
3 and 6 months. Results There was no significant difference in serum prealbumin
albumin
immunoglobulin
hemoglobin
lymphocyte count
BMI between the two groups before operation(P>0.05).The levels of albumin and hemoglobin in the two groups decreased significantly 1 month after operation compared with those before operation. The serum prealbumin level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at 6 months postoperatively
and the hemoglobin level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at 3 months and 6 months postoperatively
the differences were significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The nutritional status of patients with total gastrectomy can be improved by continuous dietary guidance for 6 months.
