Effect of targeted muscle training on blood glucose level, limb movement and cognitive function in ischemic stroke patients with diabetes
Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of targeted muscle training on blood glucose level
limb movement
and cognitive function in ischemic stroke patients with diabetes. Methods A total of 68 patients with ischemic stroke complicated with diabetes admitted to a hospital in Zhengzhou from November 2019 to November 2020 were selected as study subjects and assigned to the control group(n=34) and the observation group(n=34) by random number table. The patients in the control group received routine nursing
and the patients in the observation group targeted muscle training in addition to the routine nursing of the control group. Patients in both groups received continuous nursing for 3 months. The changes in blood glucose level
limb movement
and cognitive function before and after nursing were compared between the two groups. Results Before nursing
there was no significant difference in Fasting Blood Glucose(FBG) and 2-hour plasma glucose(2 h PG) levels between the two groups(P >0.05). After nursing
the FBG and 2 h PG levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Before nursing
there was no significant difference in the Fugl-Meyer score and Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) score between the two groups(P>0.05). After nursing
the Fugl-Meyer score and MoCA score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The use of targeted muscle training in ischemic stroke patients with diabetes can significantly improve the cognitive and motor function of patients and effectively enhance their blood glucose levels. These benefits justify a wider application of this procedure in clinical practice.
