Effects of multis ensory stimulation on motor function, developmental level and language competence in children with global developmental delay
Objective To investigate the effects of multisensory stimulation on motor function
developmental level and language competence in children with global developmental delay(GDD). Methods A total of 113 children with GDD admitted to a hospital in Xuchang from August 2018 to December 2020 were selected as subjects
and were assigned to a control group(n=56) and an observation group(n=57) using the random number table method. The children in the control group received conventional comprehensive rehabilitation training
while the children in the observation group received multisensory stimulation in addition to the conventional training
and patients in both groups received continuous intervention for 3 months. The motor function [Fine Motor Quotient(FMQ)
Gross Motor Quotient(GMQ) and total Motor Quotient(TMQ) scores]
developmental level and language competence of children in the two groups were compared before and after the intervention. Results After the intervention
the FMQ
GMQ and TMQ scores of the children in both groups were higher than those before the intervention
with the observation group higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). The scores of GMQ
FMQ
adaptability
language competence
and personal-social function were higher in both groups than before the intervention
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). After the intervention
the language competence of the children in the two groups was higher than that before the intervention
with the observation group higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Conventional comprehensive rehabilitation training in combination with multisensory stimulation can effectively improve motor function
developmental level
and language competence in children with GDD.
