Analysis of willingness to vaccinate against COVID-19 and its influencing factors among students in colleges and universities
Objective To find out the awareness of novel coronavirus(COVID-19) vaccine
willingness to be vaccinated and factors affecting willingness to vaccinate among college students
and to provide a basis for the relevant departments to develop vaccination planning for COVID-19. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted from March 6 to April 1
2021
using the convenience sampling method and the wjx.net platform
for students from universities in Shaanxi
Shanxi
and Sichuan. SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis
and χ~2 test was used for one-way analysis; logistic regression model was used for multi-factor analysis. Results The survey received 630 questionnaires
of which 607 were valid
and the valid questionnaire recovery rate was 96.35%(607/630). The results of the logistic regression analysis showed that the willingness to vaccinate was weaker among respondents with a psychological condition of fear compared to those with a psychological condition of no feeling(P <0.05); compared to respondents who believed that COVID-19 vaccination was an effective method to prevent NCP
respondents who preferred washing hands regularly and wearing a mask were less likely to be vaccinated(P<0.05); compared to respondents who believed that COVID-19 vaccine was unsafe
respondents who believed that COVID-19 vaccine was safe and those who were unsure about the safety of COVID-19 vaccine were more likely to be vaccinated(P<0.05); compared to respondents who would not persuade their families to receive COVID-19 vaccine
respondents who would persuade their families to receive COVID-19 vaccine and those who were unsure whether they would persuade their families to receive COVID-19 vaccine were more likely to receive it(P<0.05). Conclusion The willingness to receive COVID-19 vaccine is relatively high among students in colleges and universities
and relevant departments should do a good job of responding to this(increasing publicity and popularizing knowledge about COVID-19 vaccine
etc.) to ensure effective promotion and safe vaccination against the disease.
