The mediating effect of self-mindfulness level between job boredom and life satisfaction among emergency department nurses
Objective To explore the mediating effect of the level of self-mindfulness between job boredom and life satisfaction among emergency department nurses. Methods Using convenience sampling method
82 emergency nurses in three hospitals in Henan from January to May 2021 were selected as the subjects of this survey. The basic information questionnaire
job boredom questionnaire
index of well-being(IWB)
and self-mindfulness level awareness questionnaire were used to investigate the subjects of this survey. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between work boredom
life satisfaction and self-mindfulness among emergency department nurses
and the Bias-Corrected Bootstrap procedure was used to test the mediating effect of self-mindfulness between work boredom and life satisfaction among emergency department nurses. Results The total IWB score of the survey respondents was 4.85±0.41
and the univariate analysis showed that there was statistically significant difference(P<0.05) when comparing the IWB scores of the respondents with different age

marital status and monthly income. The total score of job boredom and the total score of selfmindfulness level awareness of the respondents in this study were 24.63±1.48 and 53.24±3.63
respectively. Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that work boredom was negatively correlated with IWB score(r=-0.352
P=0.022) and with self-mindfulness level awareness score(r=-0.305
P=0.025); IWB score was positively correlated with self-mindfulness level awareness score(r=0.524
P<0.001). The test also showed that job boredom had a significant predictive effect on life satisfaction and that self-mindfulness played a mediating-moderating effect in the association between job boredom and life satisfaction
with a mediating effect value of 0.163. Conclusion Emergency department nurses’ self-mindfulness plays a mediating effect between job boredom and life satisfaction and is an important variable affecting life satisfaction. Therefore
the level of self-mindfulness of emergency department nurses can be improved by corresponding interventions to achieve the purpose of alleviating job boredom and improving life satisfaction.
