Objective To investigate the levels and clinical value of pregnancy-associated plasma protein A（PAPP-A）

human chorionic gonadotropin（β-hCG） and cystatin C（CysC） assays in patients with pre-eclampsia（PE）. Methods Seventy-eight patients with PE admitted to a hospital in Liaoning Province from June 2017 to June 2019 were selected and divided into mild PE group（45 cases） and severe PE group（33 cases） according to the severity of their conditions

and 42 pregnant women with normal pregnancy who were examined at the hospital during the same period were enrolled as the control group. The serum PAPP-A

β-hCG

and CysC levels of pregnant women in the three groups were compared

and the diagnostic efficacy of the three indicators alone and in combination was analyzed. Results The serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC levels of pregnant women with PE were higher than those of pregnant women in the control group

and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）. The serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC levels of pregnant women with severe PE were lower than those of the mild PE group and the control group

and the serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC levels of pregnant women with mild PE were lower than those of the control group

and the differences were all statistically significant（P<0.05）. Spearman’s correlation analysis found that the serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC levels were positively correlated with PE（r=0.555

all P<0.05）. The sensitivity of the combination of serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC inthe diagnosis of PE was 80.77% and the specificity was 100.00%. Conclusion Serum PAPP-A

β-hCG and CysC canbe used as serum biochemical markers for predicting PE

and the combined test of the three is of high diagnostic value for PE.
