and Thank You(AIDET) communication model in the care of patients with acute leukemia. Methods Ninety-two patients admitted to a hospital in Zhengzhou from March 2020 to March 2021 for acute leukemia chemotherapy were selected for this study and divided into an AIDET group(n=46) and a control group(n=46) using the random number table method. Patients in the control group were given conventional care
and patients in the AIDET group were given nursing interventions based on the AIDET communication model on the basis of the control group. The anxiety and depression status of the patients in the two groups before the intervention and at the time of discharge were assessed using the self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and the self-rating depression scale(SDS); the comfort level of the patients in the two groups before the intervention and at the time of discharge was assessed using the general comfort questionnaire(GCQ); and the incidence of complications at the time of discharge was compared between the two groups. Results Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference between the SAS and SDS scores of the 2 groups(P>0.05). At discharge
the SAS and SDS scores of patients in the 2 groups were lower than before the intervention
and the AIDET group was lower than the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference between the GCQ scores of patients in the 2 groups(P>0.05). At discharge
the GCQ scores of patients in both groups were higher than before the intervention
and the AIDET group was higher than the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The complication rate of patients in the AIDET group was 4.35%
which was lower than 17.40% in the control group
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of care based on the AIDET communication model for chemotherapy patients with acute leukemia can improve patients’ anxiety and depression
increase their comfort and reduce the occurrence of complications
with significant effects
and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
