Analysis of the current situation of hypertension prevalence and influencing factors in Shapingba District,Chongqing
Objective To understand the current situation of hypertension prevalence and influencing factors among residents in Shapingba District
Chongqing
and to provide suggestions for the prevention and control of hypertension. Methods Using a multistage stratified random sampling method
1 800 residents in 6 towns and streets of Shapingba District were selected as the study subjects. Questionnaires and physical examinations were conducted
and blood was collected to determine fasting glucose
2-h postprandial glucose
and lipid levels. SPSS 19.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results The crude prevalence of hypertension in the study subjects was 24.44%
and the standardized prevalence was 20.82%. Subjects of different gender
age
education
body mass index(BMI)
history of harmful alcohol consumption
smoking history
central obesity status
family history of hypertension
moderate-to-high intensity recreational activities and exercise
red meat intake
prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia
prevalence of hypercholesterolemia
prevalence of low HDL-cholesterolemia
prevalence of high LDL-cholesterolemia and blood glucose showed statistically significant differences in the prevalence of hypertension(all P<0.05). Multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that age(OR=1.86
95% CI:1.70-2.04)
BMI(OR=1.97
95% CI:1.59-2.45)
central obesity(OR=1.41
95% CI:1.01-1.97)
gender(OR=1.54
95% CI:1.17-2.03)
harmful alcohol consumption(OR=1.76
95% CI:1.11-2.78)
blood glucose(OR=1.53
95% CI:1.29-1.82)
family history of hypertension(OR=2.35
95% CI:1.80-3.06)
and high LDL cholesterolemia(OR=2.24
95% CI:1.13-4.45) were independent influencing factors for the prevalence of hypertension in the study population(all P<0.05). Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension among residents of Shapingba District is high
and there are many influencing factors
so comprehensive prevention and control should be carried out for all types of populations.
