A study on the correlation between current exposure to fertility risk factors and awareness of ovarian reserve function among women of reproductive age in 21 cities of Guangdong province
Objective To investigate the correlation between current exposure to fertility risk factors and the awareness of ovarian reserve function among women of reproductive age in 21 cities in Guangdong province. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted using a stratified sample of 2 533 women aged 20-40 years with normal intelligence among the permanent residents of 2 sub-provincial cities and 19 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong province as surveysubjects.A questionnaire was used to collect information on the sociodemographic characteristics
exposure to fertility risk factors and ovarian reserve function awareness of the respondents
and the data were statistically analyzed. Results The differences in the number of exposures to risk factors for fertility were statistically significant(P<0.05) among the respondents of different age groups and different education levels
with the highest number of exposures to risk factors for fertility among the respondents in the age group of 36-40 years and those with college education and below.Among the risk factors affecting fertility
dysmenorrhea was the most exposed reproductive factor(54.84%)
followed by irregular menstrual cycle(35.69%)
and the third highest was menstrual cycle>35 d(17.77%);among the lifestyle factors
body mass index>24 kg/m2 was the most exposed factor(9.55 %)
followed by stress(9.51%).The ovarian reserve function awareness score of the survey respondents was 40.23±13.79.The results of multiple stepwise regression showed that age and ovarian reserve function awareness scores jointly explained 26.9% of the dependent variables
with a Beta value of-0.501 for ovarian reserve function awareness scores and 0.094 for age indicating that survey respondents with poorer ovarian reserve function awareness and older age had more exposure to fertility risk factors(P<0.05).Conclusion Improving the level of knowledge related to ovarian reserve function can help women of reproductive age to enhance their self-care awareness
